Code § 230.43","heading":"Section 230.43","body":"Section 230.43 – Revise Section 230.43 to read as follows:\n\n230.43 Wiring Methods for 1,000 Volts, Nominal, or Less. Service-entrance conductors shall be installed in accordance with the applicable requirements of this Code covering the type of wiring method used and shall be limited to the following methods:\n\n(1) Rigid metal conduit (RMC)\n\n(2) Intermediate metal conduit (IMC)\n\n(3) Electrical metallic tubing (EMT)\n\n(4) Metallic wireways\n\n(5) Busways\n\n(6) Metallic auxiliary gutters\n\n(7) Rigid polyvinyl chloride conduit (PVC) when installed in accordance with 230.6(1), (2) or (4).\n\nException: Exposed PVC service masts on the exterior of residential buildings are permitted within 3,000 feet (914.4 m) of a body of salt water.\n\n(8) Cable bus.\n\n(9) Mineral-insulated, metal-sheathed cable, Type MI\n\n(10) Flexible metal conduit (FMC) not over 6 ft (1.83 m) long or liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) not over 6 ft (1.83 m) long between a raceway, or between a raceway and service equipment, with a supply-side bonding jumper routed with the flexible metal conduit (FMC) or the liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) according to the provisions of 250.102(A), (B), (C), and (E).\n\n(11) High density polyethylene conduit (HDPE), underground\n\n(12) Nonmetallic underground conduit with conductors (NUCC)\n\n(13) Reinforced thermosetting resin conduit (RTRC)\n\nService entrance conductors shall not run within the hollow spaces of frame buildings.\n\nInformational Note: The utility company may have additional or more stringent requirements.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 11: The New York City Electrical Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"67b11486b33cd1c4a7f880dc0c759932715564c36173d09c6dde0e41f1d897b6","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-230.42","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-230.44"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
