Code § 620.62","heading":"Section 620.62","body":"Section 620.62 – Revise Section 620.62 to read as follows:\n\n620.62 Coordination of Overcurrent Protective Devices. Where more than 1 driving machine disconnecting means is supplied by the same source, the overcurrent protective devices in each disconnecting means shall be coordinated in accordance with either (A) or (B).\n\nSelective coordination shall be selected by a licensed professional engineer or other qualified person engaged primarily in the design, installation, or maintenance of electrical systems. The selection and device setting shall be documented and made available to those authorized to design, install, inspect, maintain, and operate the system.\n\n(A) New Elevator Systems. Elevator system(s) overcurrent devices shall be selectively coordinated with all supply-side overcurrent protective devices.\n\n(B) Modifications to Previously Approved Elevator Systems. Elevator system(s) overcurrent devices shall have limited level coordination with all supply-side overcurrent protective devices.\n\nException No. 1: Selective coordination shall not be required between transformer primary and secondary overcurrent protective devices where only 1 overcurrent device or set of overcurrent devices exists on the transformer secondary.\n\nException No. 2: Selective coordination shall not be required between overcurrent protective devices of the same rating located in series where no loads are connected in parallel with the downstream device.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 11: The New York City Electrical Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"8869bca83ddba3c7a22a1e728e331d972504ba990f9eed48fb4f9bda46005568","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-620.42","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-625.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
