Code § 830.133","heading":"Section 830.133","body":"Section 830.133(A)(1)(e) – Revise the opening paragraph of Section 830.133(A)(1)(e) to read as follows:\n\n(e) \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tElectric Light, Power, Class 1, Non-Powered Broadband Communications Circuit Cables. Network-powered broadband communications cable shall not be placed in any raceway, cable tray, compartment, outlet box, junction box, or similar fittings with conductors of electric light, power, or Class 1 circuit cables.\n\nSection 830.133(A)(1)(e) – Revise “Exception No. 1” in Section 830.133(A)(1)(e) to read as follows:\n\nException No. 1: Where all of the conductors of electric light, power, Class 1 circuits are separated from all of the network-powered broadband communications cables by a permanent barrier or listed divider.\n\nSection 830.133(A)(2) - Revise Section 830.133(A)(2) to read as follows:\n\n(2) Other Applications. Network-powered broadband communications cable shall be separated at least 2 in. (50 mm) from conductors of any electric light, power, and Class 1 circuits.\n\nException No. 1: Separation shall not be required where: (1) all of the conductors of electric light, power, and Class 1 circuits are in a raceway, or in metal-sheathed, metal-clad, nonmetallic-sheathed, Type AC, or Type UF cables, or (2) all of the network-powered broadband communications cables are encased in a raceway.\n\nException No. 2: Separation shall not be required where the network-powered broadband communications cables are permanently separated from the conductors of electric light, power, and Class 1 circuits by a continuous and firmly fixed nonconductor, such as porcelain tubes or flexible tubing, in addition to the insulation on the wire.\n\nSection 830.133(C) – Add a new Section 830.133(C) to read as follows:\n\n(C) Electrical Equipment Rooms. Broadband communications equipment and cabling shall not be installed in Electrical Equipment Rooms.\n\nException No. 1: Broadband communication equipment and cabling for control and monitoring of electrical equipment or associated components, or both, shall be permitted.\n\nException No. 2: Broadband communication equipment intended for emergency life-safety use shall be permitted.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 11: The New York City Electrical Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"3765f030b27174f64caad613309fa23adbde3b9bc65602732790acd2d3366753","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-820.133","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-28-1201.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
