Code § BC 1105","heading":"Section BC 1105: Accessible Entrances","body":"1105.1 Public entrances.\n\nIn addition to accessible entrances required by Sections 1105.1.1 through 1105.1.8, all public entrances shall be accessible.\n\nExceptions:\n\n1. An accessible entrance is not required to areas not required to be accessible by Appendix E or this chapter.\n\n2. Loading and service entrances that are not the only entrance to a building or a tenant space.\n\n3. Revolving doors, revolving gates, or turnstiles shall not be required to be accessible provided that an accessible entrance is available adjacent to such revolving doors, revolving gates or turnstiles.\n\n1105.1.1 Parking garage entrances.\n\nWhere provided, direct access for pedestrians from parking structures to buildings or facility entrances shall be accessible.\n\n1105.1.2 Entrances from tunnels or elevated walkways.\n\nWhere direct access is provided for pedestrians from a pedestrian tunnel or elevated walkway to a building or facility, entrances from such access to the building or facility shall be accessible.\n\n1105.1.3 Restricted entrances.\n\nWhere restricted entrances are provided to a building or facility, all such restricted entrances to the building or facility shall be accessible.\n\n1105.1.4 Entrances for inmates and detainees.\n\nWhere entrances used only by inmates or detainees and security personnel are provided at judicial facilities, detention facilities or correctional facilities, all such entrances shall be accessible.\n\n1105.1.5 Service entrances.\n\nIf a service entrance is the only entrance to a building or a tenant space in a facility, that entrance shall be accessible.\n\n1105.1.6 Tenant spaces.\n\nAll entrances to tenant spaces that are required to be accessible shall be accessible entrances.\n\nException: An accessible entrance is not required to self-service storage units that are not required to be accessible.\n\n1105.1.7 Dwelling units and sleeping units.\n\nDoors and doorways at entrance(s) to Accessible units and Type B+NYC units, including hardware, shall comply with Section 404 (Doors and doorways) of ICC A117.1. Doors and doorways, including hardware, at entrance(s) to Type B units shall comply with Section 1003.5 (Doors and doorways) of ICC A117.1.\n\nExceptions:\n\n1. An accessible entrance is not required to dwelling units and sleeping units that are not required to be Accessible units, Type B+NYC units, or Type B units.\n\n2.
