Code § BC 309","heading":"Section BC 309: Mercantile Group M","body":"309.1 Mercantile Group M.\n\nMercantile Group M occupancy includes, among others, the use of a building or structure or a portion thereof for the display and sale of merchandise, and involves stocks of goods, wares or merchandise incidental to such purposes and accessible to the public. Mercantile occupancies shall include, but not be limited to, the following:\n\nDepartment stores\n\nDrug stores\n\nMarkets\n\nMotor fuel-dispensing facilities\n\nRetail or wholesale stores\n\nSales rooms\n\n309.2 Quantity of hazardous materials.\n\nThe aggregate quantity of nonflammable solid and nonflammable or noncombustible liquid hazardous materials stored or displayed in a single control area of a Group M occupancy shall not exceed the quantities in Table 414.2.5(1).","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 7: New York City Building Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"881dcbcead7eccab89dedacf813f82040c0a588164f5c1e6d34dcc203b3dc570","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-308","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
