Code § BC D103","heading":"Section BC D103: Changes to Buildings","body":"D103.1 Existing buildings within the fire district.\n\nAn existing building shall not hereafter be increased in height or area unless it is of a type of construction permitted for new buildings within the fire district or is altered to comply with the requirements for such type of construction. Nor shall any existing building be hereafter extended on any side, nor square footage or floors added within the existing building unless such modifications are of a type of construction permitted for new buildings within the fire district.\n\nD103.2 Other alterations.\n\nNothing in Section D103.1 shall prohibit other alterations within the fire district provided there is no change of occupancy that is otherwise prohibited and provided the fire hazard is not increased by such alteration.\n\nD103.3 Moving buildings.\n\nBuildings shall not hereafter be moved into the fire district or to another lot in the fire district unless the building is of a type of construction permitted in the fire district.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 7: New York City Building Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"e623fcfc29b52ca120c32134501487fcbc5aa22a82af75c829aac9472edccc65","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-d102","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-d104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
