Code § BC G310","heading":"Section BC G310: Utility and Miscellaneous Group U","body":"G310.1 Utility and miscellaneous Group U.\n\nSection G310 shall govern utility and miscellaneous Group U, including buildings that are accessory in character and miscellaneous structures not classified in any specific occupancy in this code, including, but not limited to, agricultural buildings, aircraft hangars (accessory to a one- or two-family residence), barns, carports, fences more than 6 feet (1829 mm) high, grain silos (accessory to a residential occupancy), greenhouses, livestock shelters, private garages, retaining walls, sheds, stables and towers.\n\nG310.2 Flood loads.\n\nUtility and miscellaneous Group U buildings and structures, including substantial improvement of such buildings and structures, shall be anchored to prevent flotation, collapse or lateral movement resulting from flood loads, including the effects of buoyancy, during conditions of the design flood.\n\nG310.3 Elevation.\n\nUtility and miscellaneous Group U buildings and structures, including substantial improvement of such buildings and structures, shall be elevated such that the lowest floor, including basement, is elevated to or above the design flood elevation specified in ASCE 24, unless otherwise permitted to comply with requirements of Section 9.4 of ASCE 24.\n\nG310.4 Enclosures below design flood elevation.\n\nFully enclosed areas below the design flood elevation shall be constructed in accordance with Section G304.\n\nG310.5 Flood-damage-resistant materials.\n\nFlood-damage-resistant materials shall be used below the design flood elevation.\n\nG310.6 Protection of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.\n\nMechanical, plumbing and electrical systems, including plumbing fixtures, shall be elevated to or above the design flood elevation.\n\nException: Electrical systems, equipment and components; heating, ventilating, air conditioning and plumbing appliances; plumbing fixtures, duct systems and other service equipment shall be permitted to be located below the design flood elevation provided that they are designed and installed in compliance with Section G304.1.2, Item 2.3 and other applicable flood-resistant construction requirements of this code.\n\nElectrical wiring systems shall be permitted to be located below the design flood elevation provided they conform to the provisions of the New York City Electrical Code and Section 7.2 of ASCE 24.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 7: New York City Building Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"ea1b0575d37a923d91fd34d5c2a4701d0fe3b8d0b7abf952000774ad1ae56ec9","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-g309","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-bc-g311"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
