Code § FC 2803","heading":"Section FC 2803: General Requirements","body":"2803.1 Open yards.\n\nOpen yards required by the construction codes, including the Building Code, \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tshall be maintained around buildings and other structures in which lumber and wood waste are stored and handled.\n\n2803.2 Dust control.\n\nIndoor installations that generate combustible dust shall be provided with explosion protection and other combustible dust mitigation measures in accordance with FC Chapter 22 and the construction codes.\n\n2803.3 Housekeeping.\n\nLumber yards, woodworking facilities and other locations at which lumber is cut or otherwise processed and/or wood waste materials generated, shall be cleaned at the end of each workday, to collect and remove from the premises sawdust and other waste materials.\n\n2803.4 Reserved.\n\n2803.5 Control of ignition sources.\n\nProtection shall be provided from ignition sources in accordance with FC Chapter 3 and FC 2803.5.1 through 2803.5.3.\n\n2803.5.1 Hot work.\n\nHot work shall comply with the requirements of FC Chapter 35.\n\n2803.5.2 Static electricity.\n\nStatic electricity shall be prevented from accumulating on equipment and systems subject to static electricity buildup by permanent grounding and bonding wires or other approved\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmeans.\n\n2803.5.3 Smoking.\n\nIt shall be unlawful to smoke in a lumber yard, woodworking facility or other facility in which wood or wood waste materials are manufactured, stored or handled.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 29","Chapter 2: New York City Fire Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"c3757b04f25d2f91f73fa5a912ac5e8f5774a22da4bfd9820d8d05e0ebc32581","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":true,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-2802","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-2804"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
