Code § FC 312","heading":"Section FC 312: Vehicle Impact Protection","body":"312.1 General.\n\nVehicle impact protection required by this code shall be provided by posts that comply with the requirements of FC 312.2 or FC 312.3, and FC 312.4.\n\n312.2 Posts.\n\nPosts used to provide vehicle impact protection shall comply with the following requirements:\n\n1. Constructed of steel not less than 4 inches (102 mm) in diameter and concrete filled.\n\n2. Spaced not more than 4 feet (1219 mm) between posts on center.\n\n3. Set not less than 3 feet (914 mm) deep in a concrete footing of not less than a 15-inch (381-mm) diameter.\n\n4. Set with the top of the posts not less than 3 feet (914 mm) above grade.\n\n5. Located not less than 3 feet (914 mm) from the protected object.\n\n312.3 Other barriers.\n\nBarriers meant to resist, deflect or visually deter vehicular impact, other than posts in accordance with FC 312.2, shall be designed and installed in an approved manner commensurate with anticipated impact scenarios.\n\n312.4 Fire apparatus access.\n\nPosts and other barriers that may obstruct or impede fire apparatus access shall be removable by the department in an approved manner.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 29","Chapter 2: New York City Fire Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"dce4e86efeb53594e24a814dd14a02164b1cbc061ee0c307def1ac074f93326c","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-311","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-313"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
