Code § FC 3510","heading":"Section FC 3510: Hot Work on Flammable and Combustible Liquid Storage Tanks","body":"3510.1 General.\n\nHot work performed on the interior or exterior of tanks that hold or have held flammable or combustible liquids, when approved, shall be conducted in accordance with this section and NFPA 326.\n\n3510.2 Department approval.\n\nApproval shall be obtained from the department prior to conducting hot work on a tank that holds or has held flammable or combustible liquids. The application shall justify the need to conduct such hot work and identify the potential hazards and methods of controlling such hazards.\n\n3510.3 Hazard prevention.\n\nA pre-hot work check shall be performed in accordance with FC 3504.3.1. A fire watch shall be maintained with a combustible gas detector, to continuously monitor the work area and any other affected areas.\n\n3510.4 Hot tapping.\n\nHot tapping may be conducted at bulk plants and terminals on tanks and piping only when approved by the department.
