Code § FC 3703","heading":"Section FC 3703: General Requirements","body":"3703.1 Combustible waste.\n\nAshes, rubbish or other combustible waste shall not be placed in wooden or other combustible containers and shall be removed daily from the facility.\n\n3703.2 Vegetation.\n\nGrass, vines, weeds, brush or other combustible vegetation shall not be allowed to accumulate within 15 feet (4570 mm) of any combustible fiber storage location.\n\n3703.3 Clearances.\n\nA minimum clearance of 3 feet (914 mm) shall be maintained between sprinkler heads and the top of piles.\n\n3703.4 Agricultural products.\n\nHay, straw, seed cotton or similar agricultural products shall not be stored in an area adjoining any combustible fiber storage location unless a clear horizontal distance equal to the height of a pile is maintained between such agricultural products and such storage location. Storage shall be limited to stacks of 100 tons (91 metric tons) each. Stacks shall be separated by a minimum of 20 feet (6096 mm) of clear space.\n\n3703.5 Dust collection.\n\nWhere located within a building, devices, equipment and systems that generate or emit combustible fibers shall be provided with an approved dust-collecting and exhaust system. Such system shall comply with the requirements of FC Chapter 22 and the construction codes, including the Mechanical Code.\n\n3703.6 Portable fire extinguishers.\n\nPortable fire extinguishers shall be provided in accordance with FC 906 governing extra-hazard occupancy protection, as set forth in FC Table 906.3.1.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 29","Chapter 2: New York City Fire Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"bde957f52c88c8f312865157e438256f2ac19f9c83907cea2fa5fb6bab33e76a","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":true,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-3702","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-fc-3704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
