Code § FC 5401","heading":"Section FC 5401: General","body":"5401.1 Scope.\n\nThis chapter shall govern the storage, handling and use of corrosive materials.\n\nExceptions:\n\n1. Display and storage in Group M and storage in Group S occupancies complying with the requirements of FC 5003.11.\n\n2. Stationary energy storage systems in accordance with FC 608.\n\n3. Ammonia (R-717) when used as a refrigerant in a refrigerating system in accordance with FC 606.\n\n5401.2 Permits.\n\nPermits shall be required as set forth in FC 105.6.\n\n5401.3 General.\n\nCorrosive materials shall be stored, handled and used in accordance with this chapter. Corrosive materials that are compressed gases shall additionally comply with the requirements of FC Chapter 53.\n\n5401.4 Supervision.\n\nThe handling and use of corrosive materials in quantities requiring a permit shall be under the personal supervision of a certificate of fitness holder.
