No. 581-A\n\nBy Council Members Provenzano, Comrie, Martinez, Weprin, Yassky, James and Jackson (by request of the Mayor)\n\nA Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the electrical code.\n\nBe it enacted by the Council as follows:\n\n* * *\n\n[Consolidated provisions are not included in this Appendix A]\n\n* * *\n\n§ 6. (a) This local law shall take effect on January 1, 2004.\n\n(b) Sections 4 and 5 of this local law shall take effect on January 1, 2004 and shall apply to electrical work performed on and after such date except that, during a transition period commencing on January 1, 2004 and ending on June 30, 2004 electrical work may be performed in accordance with the electrical code technical standards in effect prior to January 1, 2004 (the 1999 edition of the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 70 National Electrical Code and the New York city amendments to the 1999 NEC) at the option of the person performing such electrical work.\n\n(c) A copy of the 2002 edition of the National Fire Protection Association NFPA 70 National Electrical Code, incorporated by reference into this local law, shall be kept on file by the City Clerk with this local law and shall be available for public inspection.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","2003"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"5067db9e5902a5eea55bdb00b8a466d0e3d4c4646c44a85a03afac0c3e224f32","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-l.l.-2003-080","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-l.l.-2003-083"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
