Code § MC 512","heading":"Section MC 512: Subslab Soil Exhaust Systems","body":"512.1 General.\n\nWhere a subslab soil exhaust system is provided, the duct shall conform to the requirements of this section.\n\n512.2 Materials.\n\nSubslab soil exhaust system duct material shall be air duct material listed and labeled to the requirements of UL 181 for Class 0 air ducts, or any of the following piping materials that comply with the New York City Plumbing Code as building sanitary drainage and vent pipe: cast iron; galvanized steel; brass or copper pipe; copper tube of a weight not less than that of copper drainage tube, Type DWV; and plastic piping.\n\n512.3 Grade.\n\nExhaust system ducts shall not be trapped and shall have a minimum slope of one-eighth unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (1-percent slope).\n\n512.4 Termination.\n\nSubslab soil exhaust system ducts shall extend through the roof and terminate not less than 6 inches (152.4 mm) above the roof and not less than 10 feet (3048 mm) from any operable openings or air intake.\n\n512.5 Identification.\n\nSubslab soil exhaust ducts shall be permanently identified within each floor level by means of a tag, stencil or other approved marking.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 8: New York City Mechanical Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"a8ac68ef9a6d747e7f3c579543f6fc0487ffd867ea60e9088227b46f65dffa9a","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-mc-511","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-mc-513"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
