Code § PC 101","heading":"Section PC 101: General","body":"101.1 Title.\n\nThis code shall be known and may be cited as the \"New York City Plumbing Code,\" \"NYCPC\" or \"PC\". All section numbers in this code shall be deemed to be preceded by the designation \"PC\".\n\n101.2 Scope.\n\nThe provisions of this code shall apply to the erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of plumbing systems. This code shall also regulate nonflammable medical and nonmedical gas, nonmedical oxygen systems, and sanitary and condensate vacuum collection systems. The installation of fuel gas distribution piping and equipment, fuel gas-fired water heaters, and water heater venting systems shall be regulated by the New York City Fuel Gas Code.\n\n101.3 Intent.\n\nThe purpose of this code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property, public welfare and the environment by regulating and controlling the design, construction, installation, quality of materials, location, operation and maintenance or use of plumbing systems.\n\n101.4 Severability.\n\nIf a section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this code is, for any reason, held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this code.","path":["New York City Administrative Code","Title 28","Chapter 6: New York City Plumbing Code"],"source_url":"https://files.amlegal.com/pdffiles/NewYorkCity/Admin/XML.zip","current_through":"Local Law 2026/135 (enacted August 31, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:48:57Z","sha256":"7939fa87f0902cb763671d02719e76b567eb67a8182ddda54a9585ec3b141212","source_id":"us-nyc","stale":false,"prev":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-28-601.2","next":"us-nyc/n.y.c.-admin.-code-pc-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
