Code § 1.03","heading":"Anything of value defined.","body":"As used in any section of the Revised Code for the violation of which there is provided a penalty or forfeiture, unless the context otherwise requires, \"anything of value\" includes:\n(A) Money, bank bills or notes, United States treasury notes, and other bills, bonds, or notes issued by lawful authority and intended to pass and circulate as money;\n(B) Goods and chattels;\n(C) Promissory notes, bills of exchange, orders, drafts, warrants, checks, or bonds given for the payment of money;\n(D) Receipts given for the payment of money or other property;\n(E) Rights in action;\n(F) Things which savor of the realty and are, at the time they are taken, a part of the freehold, whether they are of the substance or produce thereof or affixed thereto, although there may be no interval between the severing and taking away;\n(G) Any interest in realty, including fee simple and partial interests, present and future, contingent or vested interests, beneficial interests, leasehold interests, and any other interest in realty;\n(H) Any promise of future employment;\n(I) Every other thing of value.","path":["General Provisions","Chapter 1 Definitions; Rules of Construction"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1.03","current_through":"1976-08-27 (House Bill 1040 - 111th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:23Z","sha256":"6f064567ff658217c05601b8d4487930e5199ddd15c4debe5b1e81b4891cd324","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1.02","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1.04"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
