Code § 128.23","heading":"Duties of telecommunication service providers regarding 9-1-1 data.","body":"(A) Every telecommunication service provider able to generate 9-1-1 traffic within the state shall do all of the following:\n(1) Register with the 9-1-1 program office;\n(2) Provide a single point of contact to the 9-1-1 program office who has the authority to assist in location-data discrepancies, including 9-1-1 traffic misroutes and no-record-found errors;\n(3) Provide location data for all 9-1-1 traffic with the accuracy and validity necessary to ensure proper routing to the most appropriate public safety answering point or local next generation 9-1-1 system. Provision of this location data may include both of the following:\n(a) Preprovisioning of location data into a state-operated database utilizing industry standard protocols;\n(b) Providing a routable location with the 9-1-1 traffic at call time, utilizing approved standards for both legacy and next generation 9-1-1.\n(B) If a service provider subject to division (A) of this section is notified by the 9-1-1 program office of a discrepancy in location data, the service provider shall correct the discrepancy within seventy-two hours.\n(C) All data provided under this section is private and subject to applicable privacy laws and shall not be considered a \"public record\" for purposes of section 149.43 of the Revised Code.","path":["Title 1 State Government","Chapter 128 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone Number System"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-128.23","current_through":"2023-10-03 (House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:24Z","sha256":"a9323a25d462168839eba3d301820401d5fad374c15783bb34b3255b5da655c2","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-128.221","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-128.24"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
