Code § 1547.532","heading":"Vessels exempt from registration.","body":"(A) All of the following are exempt from registration under this chapter:\n(1) Sailboards;\n(2) Kiteboards;\n(3) Paddleboards;\n(4) Belly boats or float tubes.\n(B) As used in this section:\n(1) \"Belly boat\" or \"float tube\" means an inflatable vessel with a built-in seat or harness that is propelled solely by human muscular effort without using an oar, paddle, or pole, and designed to accommodate a single individual as an operator in such a manner that the operator remains partially submerged in the water.\n(2) \"Kiteboard\" means a recreational vessel that is inherently buoyant, has no cockpit, and is operated by an individual who utilizes control lines while tethered to a kite that provides a means of propulsion and lift.\n(3) \"Paddleboard\" means a long, narrow, somewhat rounded, inherently buoyant recreational vessel that is constructed of a flat, or nearly flat, rigid material, is propelled by human muscular effort using a pole or single- or double-bladed paddle, and is operated by an individual who is kneeling, standing, or lying on the vessel.\n(4) \"Sailboard\" means a long, narrow, somewhat rounded recreational vessel that is inherently buoyant, has no cockpit, is constructed of a flat, or nearly flat, rigid material, has a single sail mounted on a mast that is connected to the vessel by a free-rotating, flexible joint, and is operated by an individual who is standing on the vessel.","path":["Title 15 Conservation of Natural Resources","Chapter 1547 Watercraft And Waterways"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1547.532","current_through":"2016-09-14 (Senate Bill 293 - 131st General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:29Z","sha256":"fc8ef28d51e0f08d86b3831ffd0648d447bac7104bc7de696f1cd6dfc6dbe171","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1547.531","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1547.533"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
