Code § 1567.68","heading":"Safety provisions for machinery and equipment.","body":"Coal spilled beneath belt conveyor drives or tail pieces shall not be removed while the conveyor is in motion, except where such coal can be removed without endangering persons.\nMobile and stationary machinery and equipment shall be maintained in safe operating condition and machinery or equipment in unsafe condition shall be removed from service immediately.\nMachinery and equipment shall be operated only by persons authorized to operate such machinery or equipment.\nRepairs or maintenance shall not be performed on machinery until the power is off and the machinery is blocked against motion, except where machinery motion is necessary to make adjustments.\nMachinery shall not be lubricated manually while in motion, unless equipped with extended fittings or cups.\nDrive belts shall not be shifted while in motion unless the machines are provided with mechanical shifters.\nBelt dressing shall not be applied while belts are in motion except where it can be applied without endangering a person.\nBelts, chains, and ropes shall not be guided onto power-driven moving pulleys, sprockets, or drums with the hands except on slow-moving equipment especially designed for hand feeding.\nPulleys of conveyors shall not be cleaned manually while the conveyor is in motion.\nNo person shall violate this section.","path":["Title 15 Conservation of Natural Resources","Chapter 1567 Mine Equipment; Safety Provisions"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-1567.68","current_through":"1995-10-29 (Senate Bill 162 - 121st General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:29Z","sha256":"0f2364751e8993bb2b2b5581e8e3e72f2568f31c94c7a0e4209e7dcd183da4d1","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1567.67","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-1567.681"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
