Code § 173.525","heading":"Personal care aide training.","body":"(A)(1) In addition to any other eligibility requirement of this chapter, to be eligible to serve as a personal care aide under the PASSPORT program, an individual must successfully complete thirty hours of pre-service training acceptable to the department of aging.\nTo maintain eligibility, each personal care aide must successfully complete six hours of in-service training acceptable to the department. Such training must be completed every twelve months.\n(2) In administering the PASSPORT program, the department shall not require a personal care aide to do any of the following:\n(a) Complete more than thirty hours of pre-service training;\n(b) Complete more than six hours of in-service training in a twelve-month period;\n(c) Complete more hours of pre-service training or annual in-service training than required by federal law.\n(B) Only the following may supervise a personal care aide under the PASSPORT program:\n(1) A registered nurse;\n(2) A licensed practical nurse under the direction of a chiropractor, dentist, optometrist, physician, physician assistant, podiatrist, or registered nurse.","path":["Title 1 State Government","Chapter 173 Department of Aging"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-173.525","current_through":"2025-09-30 (House Bill 96 - 136th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:26Z","sha256":"c8e238390a7226086c847d6332972a6bf649e4f65d3bceb7f2cfc6a256e3a970","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-173.524","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-173.54"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
