Code § 2701.12","heading":"Removal, suspension or retirement of judge.","body":"(A) Cause for removal or suspension of a judge from office without pay under section 2701.11 of the Revised Code exists when he has, since first elected or appointed to judicial office:\n(1) Engaged in any misconduct involving moral turpitude, or a violation of such of the canons of judicial ethics adopted by the supreme court as would result in a substantial loss of public respect for the office;\n(2) Been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude; or\n(3) Been disbarred or suspended for an indefinite period from the practice of law for misconduct occurring before such election or appointment.\n(B) Grounds for retirement of a judge from office for disability exist when he has a permanent physical or mental disability which prevents the proper discharge of the duties of his office.\n(C) Grounds for suspension without pay of a judge from office for disability exist when he has a physical or mental disability which will prevent the proper discharge of the duties of his office for an indefinite time.","path":["Title 27 Courts-General Provisions-Special Remedies","Chapter 2701 Courts Of Record - General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-2701.12","current_through":"1965-10-30 (Senate Bill 334 - 106th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:31Z","sha256":"51fef27bc039389d3f0063face6aab19d6961c1c90e1a8a092007f936987f090","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-2701.11","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-2701.15"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
