Code § 3107.052","heading":"[Former R.C. 3107.051, renumbered by H.B. 5, 135th General Assembly, effective 3/20/2025] Timeline for submitting adoption petition.","body":"(A) Except as provided in division (B) of this section, a person seeking to adopt a minor, or the agency or attorney arranging the adoption, shall submit a petition for the minor's adoption no later than ninety days after the date the minor is placed in the person's home. Failure to file a petition within the time provided by this division does not affect a court's jurisdiction to hear the petition and is not grounds for denying the petition.\n(B) This section does not apply if any of the following apply:\n(1) The person seeking to adopt the minor is the minor's stepparent;\n(2) The minor was not originally placed in the person's home with the purpose of the person adopting the minor;\n(3) The minor is a \"child with special needs,\" as defined by the director of children and youth in accordance with section 5153.163 of the Revised Code.","path":["Title 31 Domestic Relations-Children","Chapter 3107 Adoption"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-3107.052","current_through":"2025-03-20 (House Bill 5 - 135th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:32Z","sha256":"b7241728cc5199f2b78bcdae40040516ea117a041d0f9c5cb6bea0e4024b43d1","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3107.051","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3107.055"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
