Code § 3722.01","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(A) \"Children's hospital\" means either of the following:\n(1) A hospital that provides general pediatric medical and surgical care in which at least seventy-five per cent of annual inpatient discharges for the preceding two calendar years were individuals less than eighteen years of age;\n(2) A distinct portion of a hospital that provides general pediatric medical and surgical care, has a total of at least one hundred fifty pediatric special care and pediatric acute care beds, and in which at least seventy-five per cent of annual inpatient discharges for the preceding two calendar years were individuals less than eighteen years of age.\n(B) \"Health care service\" means any of the following:\n(1) Pediatric intensive care;\n(2) Solid organ and bone marrow transplantation;\n(3) Stem cell harvesting and reinfusion;\n(4) Cardiac catheterization;\n(5) Open heart surgery;\n(6) Operation of linear accelerators;\n(7) Operation of cobalt radiation therapy units;\n(8) Operation of gamma knives.\n(C) \"Hospital\" means an institution or facility that provides inpatient medical or surgical services for a continuous period longer than twenty-four hours. \"Hospital\" includes a children's hospital.\n(D) \"Political subdivision\" means a county, township, municipal corporation, or other body corporate and politic responsible for governmental activities in a geographic area smaller than that of the state.\n(E) \"State university\" has the same meaning as in section 3345.12 of the Revised Code.","path":["Title 37 Health-Safety-Morals","Chapter 3722 Hospitals"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-3722.01","current_through":"2021-09-30 (House Bill 110 - 134th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:34Z","sha256":"409b2bde62fd0ddd6ee3eff245ca3a62fe501a6a763526c0078bf3e0960b9f31","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3721.99","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3722.02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
