Code § 3743.47","heading":"Safety pamphlet and glasses for consumer sales.","body":"(A) A licensed retailer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed wholesaler shall furnish a copy of a safety pamphlet to each purchaser of 1.4G fireworks. In addition to any safety information the licensed retailer, licensed wholesaler, or licensed manufacturer wishes to include, the pamphlet shall include all of the following statements, or substantially similar statements:\n\"Do not allow children to play with fireworks. Sparklers, a firework often considered by many to be the ideal \"safe\" device for children, burn at very high temperatures and should not be handled by children. Children may not understand the danger involved with fireworks and may not act appropriately while using the devices or in case of emergency.\nSet off fireworks outdoors in a clear area, away from houses, dry leaves, or grass and other flammable materials.\nKeep a bucket of water nearby for emergencies and for pouring on fireworks that fail to ignite or explode.\nDo not try to relight or handle malfunctioning fireworks. Soak them with water and throw them away.\nBe sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.\nNever light fireworks in a container, especially a glass or metal container.\nKeep unused fireworks away from firing areas.\nStore fireworks in a cool, dry place.\nCheck instructions for special storage directions.\nObserve state and local law.\nNever have any portion of your body directly over a firework while lighting.\nDo not experiment with homemade fireworks.\"\n(B) A licensed retailer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed wholesaler selling 1.4G fireworks shall have safety glasses available for a nominal charge or free at the site of the 1.4G fireworks purchase.\n(C) Divisions (A) and (B) of this section do not apply when a purchaser is a licensed retailer, licensed manufacturer, licensed wholesaler, or licensed exhibitor of fireworks in this state.","path":["Title 37 Health-Safety-Morals","Chapter 3743 Fireworks"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-3743.47","current_through":"2022-07-01 (House Bill 172 - 134th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:34Z","sha256":"f6246301327aa58459a2061c772e1450e1053f59cc2ddd53380fb871999ade21","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3743.46","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-3743.48"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
