Code § 4513.50","heading":"Bus safety definitions.","body":"As used in sections 4513.50 to 4513.53 of the Revised Code:\n(A)(1) \"Bus\" means any vehicle used for the transportation of passengers that meets at least one of the following:\n(a) Was originally designed by the manufacturer to transport more than fifteen passengers, including the driver;\n(b) Either the gross vehicle weight rating or the gross vehicle weight exceeds ten thousand pounds.\n(2) \"Bus\" does not include a church bus as defined in section 4503.07 of the Revised Code or a school bus unless the church bus or school bus is used in the transportation of passengers by a motor carrier.\n(3) \"Bus\" also does not include any of the following:\n(a) Any vehicle operated exclusively on a rail or rails;\n(b) A trolley bus operated by electric power derived from a fixed overhead wire furnishing local passenger transportation similar to street-railway service;\n(c) Vehicles owned or leased by government agencies or political subdivisions.\n(B) \"Motor carrier\" has the same meaning as in section 4923.01 of the Revised Code.","path":["Title 45 Motor Vehicles-Aeronautics-Watercraft","Chapter 4513 Traffic Laws - Equipment; Loads"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-4513.50","current_through":"2012-06-11 (House Bill 487 - 129th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:37Z","sha256":"2323dd0b77edad3504294d55540f55043ded5ac72820bece754620615f2a624c","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4513.41","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4513.51"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
