Code § 4727.10","heading":"Prohibited transactions.","body":"(A) No person licensed as a pawnbroker shall recklessly receive any pledge or purchase any articles from any minor or from any person who is at the time intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance.\n(B) No person licensed as a pawnbroker shall receive any pledge or purchase any articles from any person who is known or believed by the licensee to be a thief or a receiver of stolen property.\n(C) No person licensed as a pawnbroker shall receive any pledge or purchase any articles from any person identified in writing to the licensee by the chief of police of a municipal corporation or township, the sheriff, or the state highway patrol as a known or suspected thief or receiver of stolen property.\n(D) Division (C) of this section is a strict liability offense and section 2901.20 of the Revised Code does not apply.","path":["Title 47 Occupations-Professions","Chapter 4727 Pawnbrokers"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-4727.10","current_through":"2017-03-28 (Senate Bill 235 - 131st General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:37Z","sha256":"e81638cef5ef35e6476ae91926b75990ab9f5854f3d7a2133d7cc62718e788ab","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4727.09","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4727.11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
