Code § 4729.91","heading":"Permissible activities for registered pharmacy technician.","body":"(A) A registered pharmacy technician may, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engage in the following activities at a location licensed as a terminal distributor of dangerous drugs to the extent that the activities do not require the exercise of professional judgment:\n(1) Accepting new written or electronic prescription orders from a prescriber or a prescriber's agent;\n(2) Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile;\n(3) Preparing and affixing labels;\n(4) Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory;\n(5) Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers;\n(6) Placing dangerous drugs into patient storage containers;\n(7) Non-sterile drug compounding as authorized by the state board of pharmacy in rules adopted under section 4729.94 of the Revised Code;\n(8) Other activities specified by the board in rules adopted under section 4729.94 of the Revised Code.\n(B) A certified pharmacy technician may, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, engage in the following activities at a location licensed as a terminal distributor of dangerous drugs to the extent that the activities do not require the exercise of professional judgment:\n(1) Any activity listed in division (A) of this section;\n(2) Accepting or requesting refill authorizations for dangerous drugs that are not controlled substances from a prescriber or the prescriber's agent, so long as there is no change from the original prescription;\n(3) S terile and non-sterile drug compounding as authorized by the board in rules adopted under section 4729.94 of the Revised Code;\n(4) Other activities specified by the board in rules adopted under section 4729.94 of the Revised Code.","path":["Title 47 Occupations-Professions","Chapter 4729 Pharmacists; Dangerous Drugs"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-4729.91","current_through":"2017-04-06 (Senate Bill 319 - 131st General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:37Z","sha256":"ebad7d778445631375411c6fbdfc549a48135fba878bce106beed618f0f84c28","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4729.902","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-4729.92"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
