Code § 5107.40","heading":"Ohio works first program additional definitions.","body":"As used in sections 5107.40 to 5107.69 of the Revised Code:\n(A) \"Alternative work activity\" means an activity designed to promote self sufficiency and personal responsibility established by a county department of job and family services under section 5107.64 of the Revised Code.\n(B) \"Developmental activity\" means an activity designed to promote self sufficiency and personal responsibility established by a county department of job and family services under section 5107.62 of the Revised Code.\n(C) \"Certificate of high school equivalence\" means a certificate attesting to achievement of the equivalent of a high school education as measured by scores obtained on a high school equivalency test approved by the department of education and workforce pursuant to division (B) of section 3301.80 of the Revised Code. \"Certificate of high school equivalence\" includes a certificate of high school equivalence issued prior to January 1, 1994, attesting to the achievement of the equivalent of a high school education as measured by scores obtained on tests of general educational development.\n(D) \"Work activity\" means the following:\n(1) Unsubsidized employment activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code;\n(2) The subsidized employment program established under section 5107.52 of the Revised Code;\n(3) The work experience program established under section 5107.54 of the Revised Code;\n(4) On-the-job training activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code;\n(5) The job search and readiness program established under section 5107.50 of the Revised Code;\n(6) Community service activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code;\n(7) Vocational educational training activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code;\n(8) Jobs skills training activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code that are directly related to employment;\n(9) Education activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code that are directly related to employment for participants of Ohio works first who have not earned a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalence;\n(10) Education activities established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code for participants of Ohio works first who have not completed secondary school or received a certificate of high school equivalence under which the participants attend a secondary school or a course of study leading to a certificate of high school equivalence;\n(11) Child-care service activities, including training, established under section 5107.60 of the Revised Code to aid another participant of Ohio works first assigned to a community service activity or other work activity;\n(12) The education program established under section 5107.58 of the Revised Code that are operated pursuant to a federal waiver granted by the United States secretary of health and human services pursuant to a request made under former section 5101.09 of the Revised Code;\n(13) To the extent provided by division (C) of section 5107.30 of the Revised Code, the LEAP program established under that section.","path":["Title 51 Public Welfare","Chapter 5107 Ohio Works First Program"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-5107.40","current_through":"2023-10-03 (House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:39Z","sha256":"e566954a41911cfee79a66b5e38bebc32ae20fcfcca52369b80d205ad46c0583","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-5107.37","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-5107.41"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
