Code § 956.05","heading":"Dog retailer license.","body":"(A)(1) No person shall act as or perform the functions of a dog broker in this state without a dog broker license issued by the director of agriculture in accordance with this section and rules adopted under section 956.03 of the Revised Code.\n(2) The director shall not issue a license under this section unless the director determines that the applicant will act as or perform the functions of a dog broker in accordance with this chapter and rules adopted under it.\n(B) A person who is proposing to act as or perform the functions of a dog broker shall submit an application for a license to the director. During the month of December, but before the first day of January of the next year, a person who is proposing to continue to act as or perform the functions of a dog broker shall obtain a license from the director for the following year.\n(C) The director shall issue a dog broker license in accordance with Chapter 4796. of the Revised Code to a person if either of the following applies:\n(1) The person holds a license in another state.\n(2) The person has satisfactory work experience, a government certification, or a private certification as described in that chapter as a dog broker in a state that does not issue that license.","path":["Title 9 Agriculture-Animals-Fences","Chapter 956 Regulation And Licensing Of Dog Kennels"],"source_url":"https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-956.05","current_through":"2023-12-29 (Senate Bill 131 - 134th General Assembly)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:24:28Z","sha256":"aa787da195313c5c3de5bbf21a7356a284c45dfa552d4a59078c0cfce707e40f","source_id":"us-oh","stale":false,"prev":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-956.041","next":"us-oh/ohio-rev.-code-956.051"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
