Stat. tit. 1, § 1-21","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Abstractors Act:\n\n1. “Abstract of title” means a compilation in orderly\n\narrangement of the materials and facts of record, in the office of\n\nthe county clerk and court clerk, affecting the title to a specific\n\ntract of land issued pursuant to a certificate certifying to the\n\nmatters therein contained;\n\n2. “Abstract plant” means a set of records in which an entry\n\nhas been made of all documents or matters which legally impart\n\nconstructive notice of matters affecting title to real property, any\n\ninterest therein or encumbrances thereon, which are filed, recorded\n\nand currently available for reproduction in the offices of the\n\ncounty clerk and the court clerk in the county for which such\n\nabstract plant is maintained. Such records shall consist of:\n\na. an index in which notations of or references to any\n\ndocuments that describe the property affected are\n\nincluded, according to the property described or in\n\nwhich copies or briefs of all such documents that\n\ndescribe the property affected are sorted and filed\n\naccording to the property described, which is compiled\n\nfrom the instruments of record affecting real property\n\nin the county offices and not copied or reproduced\n\nfrom any county index, and\n\nb. an index or files in which all other documents,\n\npending suits affecting real property and liens,\n\nexcept ad valorem taxes and special assessments, are\n\nposted, entered, or otherwise included, according to\n\nthe name of the parties whose title to real property\n\nor any interest therein or encumbrances thereon is\n\naffected, which is compiled from the instruments of\n\nrecord affecting real property in the county offices\n\nand not copied from any county index;\n\n3. “Abstract license” means the authorization for a person\n\nworking for a holder of a certificate of authority to search and\n\nremove from county offices county records, summarize or compile\n\ncopies of such records, and issue the abstract of title;\n\n4. “Act” or “Oklahoma Abstractors Law” means the Oklahoma\n\nAbstractors Act;\n\n5. “Board” means the Oklahoma Abstractors Board;\n\n6. “Certificate of authority” means the authorization to engage\n\nin the business of abstracting in a county in this state, granted to\n\na person, firm, corporation, or other entity, by the Oklahoma\n\nAbstractors Board;\n\n7. “Permit” means the authorization to build an abstract plant\n\nin a specific county; and\n\n8. “Authorized agent” or “representative” of a current owner or\n\ninsured means a real estate broker, real estate agent, lender,\n\nattorney, title insurer, title insurance agent, escrow agent, or\n\nother duly appointed agent of the current owner or insured under a\n\npolicy of title insurance authorized to act on behalf of such\n\ncurrent owner or insured in a current transaction.","path":["OK Code","Title 1"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os1.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2effee0490dad788d3e93741116b17f7f70718d99c43657966a3d79897691abf","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-1-1-20","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-1-1-22"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
