Stat. tit. 10, § 10-131","heading":"Powers of county commissioners - Commitment of children to","body":"other institutions, associations or corporations.\n\nThe county commissioners of any county of this state having a\n\npopulation of not less than seventy-five thousand (75,000) persons,\n\naccording to the last Decennial Federal Census, or any Decennial\n\nFederal Census hereafter taken, are hereby authorized and empowered,\n\nif they deem it necessary or expedient, to purchase a farm and to\n\nconstruct, establish, equip and maintain thereon, at the expense of\n\nthe county, county supervised schools and homes for neglected and\n\ndependent boys and girls of such county, under the age of sixteen\n\n(16) years, who may be appointed to such schools by the district\n\ncourt of such county, and to make enlargements and additions thereto\n\nfrom time to time. Such commissioners shall also have power to\n\npurchase farm equipment to be used in connection with such schools,\n\nto purchase materials, supplies and equipment for manual, vocational\n\nor other training or education, and to erect, enlarge, remodel, and\n\nrepair such building, dormitories, residences, administration and\n\nschool buildings, and barns and outbuildings as they may from time\n\nto time deem necessary or expedient.\n\nProvided, that such county commissioners may rent a suitable\n\nsite and buildings for such purpose, and purchase the necessary\n\nequipment and supplies therefor. Provided, further, that said\n\ncounty commissioners shall make no expenditures or contract for\n\nexpenditures hereunder until a tax levy for such purposes shall have\n\nbeen made as hereinafter provided; and provided, further, that the\n\ndistrict court of such county, may, in his discretion, commit\n\ndependent and neglected children to such other institutions as may\n\nbe now or hereafter provided by law for such purposes, or to the\n\ncare of some association or corporation willing to receive them,\n\nwhich said corporation or association embraces in its objects the\n\npurpose of caring for and obtaining homes for such neglected and\n\ndependent children.","path":["OK Code","Title 10"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0139183036904ecbf5bbc08835fb4e7e6bcfa4cc03b5837dd0a7b60bfdae0594","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-13","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-132"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
