Stat. tit. 10, § 10-1414","heading":"Admission of individuals with intellectual disability -","body":"Applications - Release.\n\nA. 1. Individuals with intellectual disability who are legal\n\nresidents of this state and who have a mental age not above that of\n\nthe average nine-year-old child, as determined by psychological\n\nexamination, may be admitted to an institution named in Section 1406\n\nof this title or provided community services, if available, on a\n\nvoluntary basis only upon written application to the Director on\n\nforms provided for such purpose. Other individuals with\n\nintellectual disability who are residents of this state and who are\n\nabove such mental age may be admitted or provided community\n\nservices, on a voluntary basis only, upon recommendation of the\n\nsuperintendent of the institution and approval of the Director.\n\n2. The application shall be signed by any parent having legal\n\ncustody of such person, a guardian appointed by a court, or other\n\nlegal custodian of such person.\n\n3. The psychological examination provided for in this section\n\nshall be on forms provided by the Department and must be completed\n\nbefore an application can be approved and the applicant admitted to\n\nthe institution.\n\nB. Release of a resident of any of the institutions named in\n\nSection 1406 of this title shall be subject to such reasonable rules\n\nand conditions as may be prescribed by the Director of Human\n\nServices and shall be made only to the parent, guardian appointed by\n\na court, or legal custodian of the resident; provided, however, a\n\nresident eighteen (18) years of age or older who has not been found\n\nby a court to be incompetent or incapacitated may request and obtain\n\nsuch person's own release.","path":["OK Code","Title 10"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2082ea4ebc6061b2116cd7135bef7d0421ad82ac02981a33c590c98e76946d8e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-1413","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-1414.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
