Stat. tit. 10, § 10-1416","heading":"Liability for care and treatment","body":"A resident at an institution named in Section 1406 of this title\n\nis liable for his or her care and treatment. This claim of the\n\nstate for such care and treatment shall constitute a valid\n\nindebtedness against the resident and his or her estate and shall\n\nnot be barred by any statute of limitations. At the death of the\n\nresident this claim shall be allowed and paid as other lawful claims\n\nagainst the estate. Persons making application for admission of an\n\nindividual with intellectual disability to the institution are also\n\nliable for the care and treatment of the resident, provided that\n\nsuch persons are legally obligated to support the resident.
