Except as otherwise provided by this section, a proceeding\n\nto terminate parental rights pursuant to Article 5 of the Oklahoma\n\nAdoption Code or an adoption in this state of a minor born in this\n\nstate or brought into this state from another state by a prospective\n\nadoptive parent, or by a person who places the minor for adoption in\n\nthis state, is governed by the laws of this state, including but not\n\nlimited to, the Oklahoma Adoption Code and the Interstate Compact on\n\nthe Placement of Children.\n\nB. A permanent relinquishment of a child for adoption or a\n\nconsent to adoption, including, but not limited to, an extrajudicial\n\nconsent signed by a putative father, will be recognized as valid and\n\ngiven effect in all proceedings brought pursuant to the Oklahoma\n\nAdoption Code in the courts of this state, if the permanent\n\nrelinquishment or consent was executed:\n\n1. Before an appropriate official and in the manner prescribed\n\nby the Oklahoma Adoption Code; or\n\n2. Except as otherwise provided in subsection I of Section\n\n7503-2.3 and subsection H of Section 7503-2.4 of this title, before\n\nan appropriate official and in the manner prescribed by the law of\n\nthe state or country in which the permanent relinquishment or\n\nconsent was executed.\n\nC. The laws of this state shall govern when and under which\n\ncircumstances a permanent relinquishment of a child for adoption or\n\na consent to adoption, including, but not limited to, an\n\nextrajudicial consent signed by a putative father, may be revoked or\n\nset aside, if:\n\n1. The permanent relinquishment or consent was executed in this\n\nstate; or\n\n2. The permanent relinquishment or consent was executed outside\n\nof this state before an appropriate official and in a manner in\n\ncompliance with all of the requirements of the Oklahoma Adoption\n\nCode.\n\nD. If a permanent relinquishment for adoption or consent to\n\nadoption, including, but not limited to, an extrajudicial consent\n\nsigned by a putative father, is executed outside of this state\n\nbefore an official or in a manner that is not in compliance with all\n\nof the requirements of the Oklahoma Adoption Code, the law of the\n\nstate in which the permanent relinquishment or consent was executed\n\nshall govern the circumstances under which the relinquishment or\n\nconsent may be revoked or set aside.","path":["OK Code","Title 10"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e43b2bd38d7caa03104afc189d6d608eee4058eea10eb29a52e3f2933ed6493f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-7502-1.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10-10-7502-1.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
