Stat. tit. 10A, § 10A-1-9-125","heading":"Ability for children 16 years or older to enter into","body":"housing contracts – Certification of unaccompanied status.\n\nA. A child who is sixteen (16) years of age or older may enter\n\ninto contracts to obtain housing if the child receives a\n\ncertification of unaccompanied status from a youth services provider\n\nthat is licensed, accredited, monitored or contracted by the\n\nDepartment of Human Services or the Department of Mental Health and\n\nSubstance Abuse Services to provide care for an unaccompanied child\n\npursuant to this section.\n\nB. The certification provided in subsection A of this section\n\nshall show that the provider has determined the child is homeless, a\n\nvictim of domestic violence or a victim of abuse as defined in\n\nSection 1-1-105 of Title 10A of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nC. The provider shall issue the certification fourteen (14)\n\ndays after sending notice via certified mail, return receipt\n\nrequested, to the parent or legal guardian of the child. The notice\n\nshall include the child's full name, date of birth and a statement\n\nthat the child is seeking to be certified by the agency as an\n\nunaccompanied child. If, after due diligence, the provider is\n\nunable to identify the whereabouts of the parent or legal guardian\n\nof the child, notice to the parent or legal guardian shall not be\n\nrequired.\n\nD. In the event that the parent or legal guardian of the child\n\ncontacts the provider and the provider believes that returning home\n\nwould place the child at risk of abuse or neglect, the provider\n\nshall make a report to the Department of Human Services.\n\nE. A certification of unaccompanied status pursuant to this\n\nsection shall not discharge the parent or legal guardian of any\n\nparental or legal authority or duty regarding the care and custody\n\nof the child.\n\nF.
