The finding that a child is delinquent or in need of\n\nsupervision shall not deprive the parents of the child of their\n\nparental rights, but a court may terminate the rights of a parent to\n\na child for any reason authorized in the Oklahoma Children's Code.\n\nThe provision of the Oklahoma Children's Code shall govern\n\ntermination of parental rights.\n\nB. Whenever parental rights of the parents of a child have been\n\nterminated and the child is committed to the Office of Juvenile\n\nAffairs, the Executive Director of the Office of Juvenile Affairs\n\nshall serve as the legal guardian of the estate of the child, until\n\nanother guardian is legally appointed, for the purpose of preserving\n\nthe child's property rights, securing for the child any benefits to\n\nwhich he may be entitled under social security programs, insurance,\n\nclaims against third parties, and otherwise, and receiving and\n\nadministering such funds or property for the care and education of\n\nthe child.","path":["OK Code","Title 10A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cc04505668a68ffb8d46489cdd768ced4e614c86eefcc72d733c21b8f41df2a0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-2-801","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-2-803"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
