In each county having a population of eighty thousand\n\n(80,000) or more, as shown by the last preceding Federal Decennial\n\nCensus, there is created a juvenile bureau and a citizens' advisory\n\ncommittee.\n\n1. The juvenile bureau shall be responsible for the provision\n\nof juvenile justice services to children, youth, and families\n\nlocated within its county and subject to the jurisdiction of the\n\njuvenile division of that county's district court.\n\n2. For the purposes of this section, \"juvenile justice\n\nservices\" may include, but not be limited to:\n\na. services provided to the child or youth to remediate\n\nor alleviate the conditions that led to court\n\ninvolvement, including educational, vocational-\n\neducational, medical, substance abuse treatment, and\n\nother programs that may be beneficial to the child or\n\nyouth,\n\nb. services provided to the parent, legal guardian, legal\n\ncustodian, stepparent, or other family members or\n\nadults subjecting themselves to the jurisdiction of\n\nthe court to remediate or alleviate the conditions\n\nthat led to the adjudication of the child or youth,\n\nincluding programs to strengthen the family unit,\n\nprevent or correct child abuse or neglect, or to\n\nassist the family in providing proper care and\n\nsupervision of the child or youth,\n\nc. community-based diversion and preventive services and\n\nprograms to assist in diverting children and youth\n\nfrom the juvenile justice system. Such programs may\n\ninclude, but not be limited to, medical, educational,\n\nvocational, social and psychological guidance,\n\ntraining, counseling, substance abuse treatment,\n\nrecreation, mediation, crisis intervention,\n\ntransitional living, independent living and other\n\nrehabilitative services, and\n\nd. services or programs provided in collaboration with\n\nother juvenile justice agencies or programs as defined\n\nin Section 2-7-902 of this title.\n\n3. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the\n\nOffice of Juvenile Affairs or Board of Juvenile Affairs from\n\ncontracting with designated Youth Services Agencies as provided for\n\nin Section 2-7-306 of this title. The services provided in\n\nparagraph 1 of subsection A of this section shall be in addition to,\n\nor in collaboration with, other state, municipal or privately funded\n\nservices to children and youth in the county therein.\n\nB.
