The salary of the director and other employees of the bureau\n\nand any detention home established pursuant to Section 2-4-108 of\n\nthis title shall be fixed by the judge of the Juvenile Division,\n\nsubject to the general administrative authority of the county\n\ncommissioners of the contracting county.\n\nB. The judge of the Juvenile Division, subject to the general\n\nadministrative authority of the county commissioners of the\n\ncontracting county, may fix a limit on the amount of expenses that\n\nmay be incurred by the director and assistants to the director, such\n\nlimit to be in the judgment of the judge adequate to care for the\n\nexpenses necessary to carrying out the orders of the court in an\n\nefficient and expedient manner. The director and assistants to the\n\ndirector and other personnel of the court shall keep and maintain\n\ntheir offices at the place where the office of the judge of the\n\ncourt is kept, unless the judge of the Juvenile Division, subject to\n\nthe general administrative authority of the county commissioners of\n\nthe contracting county, shall direct otherwise. The offices of the\n\ndirector and assistants to the director shall contain adequate\n\nequipment, desk space and consultation rooms necessary for\n\nappropriate office procedure.\n\nC. In addition to their salaries, the director and assistants\n\nto the director shall be reimbursed at the same rate as state\n\nemployees for mileage traveled by them in the investigation of court\n\ncases and in supervising probationers. The director and assistants\n\nmay also receive reimbursement, at the rate and in the manner\n\napplicable to other county officers, for actual and necessary\n\nexpenses incurred by them in attending conferences, meetings,\n\nseminars or official business of the court either within or outside\n\nof the State of Oklahoma.\n\nD. In all counties having a juvenile bureau, the budget of the\n\njuvenile bureau for salaries and expenses of the director,\n\ncounselors and other employees shall be established and funded as\n\nfollows:\n\n1. All expenses incurred in complying with the provisions of\n\nthis article shall be a county charge or funded by a special sales\n\ntax dedicated to juvenile programs and expenses;\n\n2. The salaries and other compensation of all employees of the\n\njuvenile bureau shall be fixed by the judge within the limit of the\n\ntotal appropriations therefor; and\n\n3. It is made the duty of the county excise board to make the\n\nnecessary appropriation and levy for the payment of salaries of the\n\ndirector and all other employees, together with the expenses of\n\nadministering the bureau, consistent with the duty to do likewise\n\nwith the budget estimates of other county officers under the board's\n\njurisdiction, as required by the Constitution and laws of this\n\nstate.\n\nExcept in instances where it is entitled to representation\n\nbecause of insurance coverage, the district attorney of the county\n\nin which the juvenile bureau is located shall represent the juvenile\n\nbureau and any employee who was acting in his or her official\n\ncapacity at the time of the act or omission complained of in any\n\nlawsuit. If the district attorney has a conflict of interest or\n\notherwise declines to represent the juvenile bureau or its\n\nemployees, the county commissioners may request the assistance of\n\nthe Attorney General or authorize the employment of private counsel\n\nfor the juvenile bureau and its employees in their official\n\ncapacity.","path":["OK Code","Title 10A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"93b3ed55872af32d80893c7c9150890d6bc5223ced14543c4e2fca5df565f92f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-4-106","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-4-108"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
