Stat. tit. 10A, § 10A-2-7-608","heading":"Expansion of preadjudicatory secure detention beds -","body":"Responsibility for regional juvenile facility in southwestern part\n\nof state.\n\nA. Beginning July 1, 1995, the Office of Juvenile Affairs shall\n\noversee the expansion of the number of preadjudicatory secure\n\ndetention beds available in this state. It is the intent of the\n\nLegislature to establish detention beds on a geographic basis\n\nthroughout the state in order to provide more accessibility to\n\nservices for all regions of the state. The beds established by this\n\nsubsection shall be established and operated in accordance with\n\nSection 2-3-103 of this title.\n\nB. Effective July 1, 1995, the responsibilities for\n\nestablishing and operating a regional juvenile facility in the\n\nsouthwestern part of the state shall be transferred to the Office of\n\nJuvenile Affairs. The facility shall include six transitional beds\n\nand seventy medium secure beds for such programs as the Office of\n\nJuvenile Affairs determines will most appropriately and effectively\n\nprovide required services; provided, no more than thirty-two beds\n\nshall be used for any one type of program. It is the intent of the\n\nLegislature that the Office of Juvenile Affairs locates an existing\n\nfacility that can be remodeled and used for this purpose.\n\nC. Beginning July 1, 1998, detention beds constructed and\n\noperated by a county solely through revenues from county sources\n\nshall be exempt from the provisions of the State Plan for the\n\nEstablishment of Juvenile Detention Services adopted pursuant to\n\nsubsection D of Section 2-3-103 of this title.\n\nD.
