Sections 2-7-701 through 2-7-705 of this title shall be\n\nknown and may be cited as the “Delinquency and Youth Gang\n\nIntervention and Prevention Act”.\n\nB. The Legislature recognizes that the economic cost of crime\n\nto the state and communities continues to drain existing resources,\n\nand the cost to victims, both economic and psychological, is\n\ntraumatic and tragic. The Legislature further recognizes that many\n\nadults in the criminal justice system were once delinquents in the\n\njuvenile justice system. The Legislature also recognizes that the\n\nmost effective juvenile delinquency programs are programs that\n\nprevent children from entering the juvenile justice system, meet\n\nlocal community needs, and have substantial community involvement\n\nand support. Therefore, it is the belief of the Legislature that\n\none of the best investments of scarce resources available to combat\n\ncrime is to counteract the negative social and economic factors that\n\ncontribute to criminal and delinquent behavior by engaging youth who\n\nare determined to have the highest risk of involvement with gangs or\n\ndelinquent behaviors or live in at-risk neighborhoods and\n\ncommunities in positive programs and opportunities at the local,\n\nneighborhood and community level.\n\nC. For the purpose of reducing the likelihood of later or\n\ncontinued involvement in criminal or delinquent activities, the\n\nintent of the Legislature in enacting the Delinquency and Youth Gang\n\nIntervention and Prevention Act is to provide programs for\n\nadjudicated delinquents and highest risk children and their families\n\nwho live in at-risk neighborhoods and communities, as defined in\n\nSection 2-7-702 of this title, and to aid all communities in\n\ndeveloping delinquency and gang intervention and prevention programs\n\nand activities.","path":["OK Code","Title 10A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os10A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"51a383efe8f10c2883dc36a17c5882c78eb13605b898ddd37a43b5b3f2531c8b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-7-620","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-10a-10a-2-7-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
