Stat. tit. 11, § 11-10-118","heading":"City treasurer - Creation and duties - Compensation","body":"The city treasurer shall be an officer of the city, appointed by\n\nthe council for an indefinite term. The council may provide by\n\nordinance that the same person may hold both the office of city\n\nclerk and the office of city treasurer. Subject to such regulations\n\nas the council may prescribe, the city treasurer shall deposit daily\n\nfunds received for the city in depositories as the council may\n\ndesignate. The city treasurer shall have such other powers, duties,\n\nand functions related to his statutory duties as may be prescribed\n\nby law or by ordinance. The person who serves as city treasurer may\n\nbe employed by the city to perform duties not related to his\n\nposition as city treasurer.
