Stat. tit. 11, § 11-11-115","heading":"City treasurer - Creation and duties - Compensation","body":"The city treasurer shall be an officer of the city, appointed by\n\nthe mayor for an indefinite term. The council may provide by\n\nordinance that the same person may hold both the office of city\n\nclerk and the office of city treasurer. Said council may also\n\nprovide by ordinance that the city clerk shall be ex officio city\n\ntreasurer and that an acting city clerk shall be ex officio acting\n\ncity treasurer. Subject to such regulations as the council may\n\nprescribe, the city treasurer shall deposit daily funds received for\n\nthe city in depositories as the council may designate. The city\n\ntreasurer shall have such other powers, duties, and functions\n\nrelated to his statutory duties as may be prescribed by law or by\n\nordinance. The person who serves as city treasurer may be employed\n\nby the city to perform duties not related to his position as city\n\ntreasurer.
