Stat. tit. 11, § 11-11-125","heading":"Removal of employees in classified service - Procedure","body":"Whenever the mayor or other authority lays off, suspends without\n\npay, demotes or removes an officer or employee in the classified\n\nservice who has completed a probationary period of six (6) months,\n\nthe following procedure shall apply:\n\n1. The mayor or other appointing authority shall deliver, or\n\nmail by certified mail, a written statement of the causes for the\n\nlayoff, suspension, demotion or removal to the officer or employee\n\nnot later than three (3) days after the effective date of the\n\npersonnel action;\n\n2. The officer or employee may appeal the action to the\n\npersonnel board. The appeal must be in writing, and must be filed\n\nwith the secretary or chairman of the personnel board within ten\n\n(10) days after the effective date of the layoff, suspension,\n\ndemotion or removal;\n\n3. The personnel board shall hold a public hearing on the\n\nappeal, or give an adequate opportunity therefor, as soon as\n\npracticable after an appeal has been filed;\n\n4. The personnel board shall report in writing its findings and\n\nrecommendations to the mayor, where the appellant is a subordinate\n\nof the mayor, or to the respective authority having power of\n\nremoval; and\n\n5. The mayor or other authority having power of removal shall\n\nmake the final decision in writing regarding the appellant's layoff,\n\nsuspension, demotion or removal; but if the personnel board finds to\n\nits satisfaction that the layoff, suspension, demotion, or removal\n\nwas made for a political reason or for any reason other than the\n\ngood of the service, it shall veto the layoff, suspension, demotion\n\nor removal, and the action by the mayor or other authority shall be\n\nnullified thereby.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ba97046a9f12e9752baed44b5ea57096ec4a4b068257d188134cb533366aa8f8","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-11-124","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-12-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
