A municipal governing body is authorized to offer and pay a\n\nreward, from municipal funds, in an amount not to exceed One\n\nThousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for the arrest and conviction, or for\n\nevidence leading to the arrest and conviction of any person stealing\n\nor defacing municipal road signs or other municipal owned property.\n\nB. The municipal governing body may create and maintain a\n\nreward fund from which to pay the rewards provided for in subsection\n\nA of this section. The municipal governing body shall determine the\n\namount and source of funds necessary to pay the rewards authorized\n\nin subsection A of this section.\n\nC. Any person convicted of theft or defacing municipal road\n\nsigns or other municipal owned property may, in lieu of other fines\n\nand penalties, be required to deposit like amount into the reward\n\nfund established pursuant to this section.\n\nD.
