If the term of an elected officer as set forth in the notice\n\nof the last election for the office will expire in an even-numbered\n\nyear, a regular municipal election or town meeting, if the\n\nmunicipality is subject to the Oklahoma Town Meeting Act, shall be\n\nheld in order to elect a successor. The term of the successor shall\n\nbe either three (3) or five (5) years as necessary in order to\n\ncomply with the provisions of Section 16-101 et seq. of this title.\n\nThereafter, the term of said office shall be four (4) years. Any\n\nsuch election or town meeting held in an even-numbered year shall be\n\nconducted in the manner provided by law applicable to municipal\n\nelections or town meetings, whichever is appropriate.\n\nB. If the term of an elected officer as set forth in the notice\n\nof the last election for the office will expire in an odd-numbered\n\nyear, but the term of office does not coincide with the offices\n\nnamed in Section 16-201 et seq. of this title, a regular municipal\n\nelection or town meeting shall be held in order to elect a\n\nsuccessor. The term of the successor shall be either two (2) or four\n\n(4) years as necessary in order to comply with the provisions of\n\nSection 16-101 et seq. of this title.
