Stat. tit. 11, § 11-16-307","heading":"Voting eligibility - Town meeting pollbook - Illegal","body":"voting - Penalty.\n\nA. The presiding officer at a town meeting shall follow\n\nreasonable and necessary procedures to ensure that persons who are\n\nnot registered voters of the town do not vote. Registered voters\n\nshall be seated in a clearly marked area separate from persons not\n\nregistered to vote.\n\nB. To be eligible to vote at a town meeting, a person must be\n\nregistered with the county election board at an address located\n\nwithin the municipality. Before being seated in the section\n\nreserved for registered voters, each voter shall sign his or her\n\nname in a town meeting pollbook, said signature to constitute a\n\nsworn affidavit on the part of the voter that he or she is eligible\n\nto vote at the election. The pollbook shall be prepared by the\n\nmunicipal clerk. For such purpose, the municipal clerk or designee\n\nof the municipal clerk shall be authorized to administer the oath or\n\naffirmation contained in the affidavit. The town meeting pollbook\n\nshall be on file in the office of the municipal clerk and shall be\n\nopen to public inspection during reasonable office hours; provided,\n\nhowever, that such town meeting pollbooks may be digitized or\n\nelectronically copied and stored by the municipal clerk at the end\n\nof six (6) months from the date of the election wherein such town\n\nmeeting pollbook was used.
