Stat. tit. 11, § 11-16-314","heading":"Omission of or noncompliance with notice requirements -","body":"Correction - Rectification of other errors and omissions -\n\nValidation of business of original action.\n\nWhen any of the requirements of this act as to notice of a\n\nbiennial or special town meeting have been omitted or not complied\n\nwith, the omission or noncompliance, if the meeting and the business\n\ntransacted at it is otherwise legal and within the scope of the\n\nmunicipal powers, may be corrected and legalized by a majority vote\n\nof the registered voters present at a regular town meeting or\n\nspecial town meeting of the municipality called for that purpose,\n\nwith notice as required by Section 4 of this act. The question to\n\nbe voted upon shall substantially be, \"Shall the action taken at the\n\nmeeting of this town held on (state date) in spite of the fact that\n\n(state error or omission), and any act or action of the municipal\n\nofficers or agents pursuant thereto be readopted, ratified and\n\nconfirmed?\". Errors or omissions in the conduct of an original\n\nmeeting which are not the result of an unlawful notice or\n\nnoncompliance within the scope of the notice, may be rectified by a\n\nresolution of the governing body of the municipality passed by a\n\nmajority of the members of the governing body at a regular meeting\n\nor a special meeting called for that purpose, stating that the\n\ndefect was the result of oversight, inadvertence or mistake. When\n\nan error or omission of this nature has been thus corrected by\n\nresolution, all business within the terms of the action of the\n\nqualified voters shall be as valid as if the requirements had been\n\ninitially complied with, on condition, however, that the original\n\naction thereby corrected by the governing body was in compliance\n\nwith the legal exercise of its governing powers.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4e133c93ddfa5a77edc1b56b1f1b26ae4daa98dd4aeba28fa73f0c4d5fe4329a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-16-313","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-16-315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
