Stat. tit. 11, § 11-20-105","heading":"Effect of change","body":"Unless otherwise provided for by the governing body, the\n\neffective date of a change in the name, boundaries, or number of\n\nwards shall be the effective date of the ordinance making such\n\nchange. Election of councilmembers or trustees for wards which have\n\nno representation due to such change shall take place at the time\n\nestablished by the governing body of the municipality but not later\n\nthan the next regular municipal election. The terms of office of\n\nsuch new councilmembers or trustees shall be as provided for by the\n\nlaw applicable to the form of municipal government.
