Stat. tit. 11, § 11-21-105","heading":"Annexation by petition - Notice - Cost - Governing body","body":"ordinance.\n\nAt least three-fourths of the registered voters and the owners\n\nof at least three-fourths (in value) of the property in any\n\nterritory adjacent or contiguous to the municipality may request\n\nannexation by signing and filing a petition with the governing body\n\nof the municipality. The petitioners must give notice of the\n\npresentation of the petition by publication at least once each week\n\nfor two (2) successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation\n\nin the municipality where the petition has been presented. The\n\nmunicipality may pay the cost of the annexation proceedings.
