The governing body of a municipality may enter into a\n\ncontract with a collection agency for the provision of collection\n\nservices for one or more of the following items:\n\n1. Debts and accounts receivable including, but not limited to,\n\nunpaid fees, penalties, interest, and other sums due the\n\nmunicipality, as applicable; or\n\n2. Court penalties, costs, fines and fees in cases in municipal\n\ncourt in which the accused has failed to appear or otherwise failed\n\nto satisfy a monetary obligation ordered by the court.\n\nB. A governing body of a municipality that enters into a\n\ncontract with a collection agency pursuant to this section may\n\nauthorize the addition of a collection fee in an amount not to\n\nexceed thirty-five percent (35%) on each item described in\n\nsubsection A of this section that has been referred by the\n\nmunicipality to the collection agency for collection. If a\n\nmunicipality enters into such contract with a collection agency and\n\nauthorizes the collection fee, the court shall order defendants to\n\nreimburse the fee arising pursuant to paragraph 2 of subsection A of\n\nthis section and such court-ordered fee may be collected as provided\n\nby law for the collection of any other civil debt or criminal\n\naction.","path":["OK Code","Title 11"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os11.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7b83e346f8e6a0ef767b10a2755013cb22dd677134dc8b9348075e8df98fc38d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-22-137","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-11-11-22-139"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
